In the year 2000, The City of New Haven, Yale University and local business leaders joined forces to establish Market New Haven, Inc. (MNHI), the city’s first destination marketing organization.
Since then, MNHI has been a driving force working to promote downtown New Haven’s vibrant lifestyle & leisure assets and attributes, branding it as a great place to visit, live and work.

MNHI is privately funded by Yale University and Yale New Haven Health. MNHI supports the growth of jobs and taxes in New Haven through promotion of the city’s thriving downtown dining, shopping, culture, entertainment, and events scene.

MNHI has implemented a multi-tactical approach to both sharing and amplifying relevant public health, City, partner and constituent information. Specifically, we are leveraging our INFO New Haven digital channels through Web, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & and monthly E-Newsletter to keep our residents, business partners and audiences beyond the Elm City informed.
New Haven is one of Connecticut’s greatest culinary cities and we want residents to know that delicious food is available through takeout and delivery and at specialty markets and grocery stores. We are also supporting retailers by informing folks they can support local merchants by purchasing gift cards online.
We know it’s important for people to still feel connected to New Haven and entertained at home. We have created a list of virtual tours at Museums, virtual art classes and activities like fitness classes. As the cultural capital of Connecticut, it’s great to know that folks can find ways to exercise their brains and their bodies while at home.
